Our personal, long-term financial and professional development is often intertwined with the monetary resources we have at our disposal. Not everyone in Singapore has the financial means to further their educational, career, or personal pursuits without a significant influx of funds from third-party lenders. Are you in a position where you need financial help, but are wary of the lending terms for the credit packages offered by Singaporean moneylenders? That’s perfectly understandable.
Even though all the lenders active in our country must follow the financial framework laid out in the Moneylenders Act of 2008, the conditions of the offered credit, the EIR, or the specifics of the repayment duration can vary from lender to lender. Finding the right financial collaborator can make all the difference in the world when you need fast, no-questions-asked access to funds, with minimal complexity in the required application-related documentation.
It’s hard to find a lender that will fit all your boxes, especially now, when Singapore is home to no less than 153 private financial providers, licensed by the Registry of Moneylenders. To help you out, in this post we have gathered five of the best lenders currently active in our country: Monetium Credit, Quick Credit, Friday Finance, JR Credit, and 1 Fullerton Credit, and we will highlight their benefits.
Not all private lenders operating in Singapore provide the same level of services and personalised financial know-how. Some lenders are characterised by their flexible and advantageous interest rates, but they are limited in the availability of personalised credit packages, while others might be transparent and lenient with the conditions of the loans, but they are unfortunately not advantageous when it comes to long-term EIRs.
To create this list, we have evaluated each lender based on the criteria most relevant to the interests of target Singaporean borrowers. All five lenders mentioned in this post are licensed by Singapore’s Ministry of Law and comply with the legislative framework laid out in the Moneylenders Act. Moreover, when assessing their benefits and thus analysing their inclusion in this post, we have also considered their transparency level, their loan variety, and the accessibility of the loan packages they commercialize.
A good provider of private loan packages should be available to anyone. Not just for borrowers with perfect credit or a DTI that will make even Bill Gates blush. This points us to the last criteria we used. The availability of borrower support and the lending agency’s overall reputation.
A good, recommendable moneylending agency active in Singapore should be responsive to clients’ queries and should have verifiable testimonials from past customers.
We didn’t include ourselves in this list just because we are confident in the quality of the services and support provided to Singaporean customers. Our testimonials speak for themselves, as do the awards we have received over the years.
The complexity and quality of the professional services provided to our loyal customers are reflected in the reviews we have received over the years. Monetium Credit stands out from the competition through our customer-first approach when it comes to private lending.
We are always transparent with our business model; we are available anytime to address complex, personal queries from our potential lending partners, and we take our time to understand each borrower’s financial situation and provide tailored loan solutions that hopefully will work for both parties.
Do we approve everyone? No.
But we are open to providing financial services even for borrowers with less-than-ideal credit scores, and we feature a catalogue of private lending packages that’s above the industry average when it comes to complexity.
From personal loans with year-long repayment periods to payday loans, business-focused credit packages, DCLs or even educational loans and wedding loans available with or without collateral, our financial services are suitable for everyone, and we are confident in the professionalism of our employees and in the availability of the financial solutions we currently commercialise. Plus, we are likely just one short walk away from your location.

There are four things you should check/be aware of before utilising the professional services of a Singaporean moneylender.
Under Singaporean law, only lenders operating under a full license granted by the Registry of Moneylenders are permitted to provide financial aid services to domestic or foreign borrowers. Before you choose a lender, you will need to verify whether they operate under the framework laid out by Singapore’s Ministry of Law. To do so, the best approach is to consult the official lender list available on the MLAW website.
By law, all private lenders licensed in Singapore must operate within the boundaries of the Moneylenders Act of 2008. This means that no matter what, the administration fees associated with your credit package cannot be greater than 10% of the loan principal, and the maximum interest rate associated with your loan cannot go beyond 4% per month or 48% per year. But credit conditions can differ between lenders, and before you make a decision, you should compare the total cost of borrowing and carefully review the terms of the loan contract you are about to sign.
Before you sign a credit agreement, you will need to understand the specifics of the loan’s repayment terms. A loan package with a total interest of 2.5% per month can, in some cases, be more advantageous than one with an interest of only 2%, as long as the total repayment period is shorter. It depends on what you are looking for. Some lenders are flexible with the repayment conditions of their commercialised loans, while others might be more restrictive.
Not all loan packages available in our country are characterised by the same interest rates and intended for the same use cases. Are you, for instance, looking for short-term help? Then, a payday loan might be a good fit, while for more involved spending, a long-term unsecured personal loan can be a more suitable option. Selecting the right type of loan can help you avoid borrowing more than necessary and positively impact your family’s financial stability.
How Do I Know a Moneylender Is Licensed?
The easiest way to check the licensing status of a lender is to check the official Registry of Moneylenders maintained by Singapore’s Ministry of Law and available on the MLAW website. Currently, our country has 153 officially licensed private moneylenders listed on the website with their full business name, license number, business address, and, optionally, a landline number or business URL.
How Much Can I Borrow from a Licensed Money Lender?
It depends on your current monthly wage, your credit score, external loan obligations and the type of credit package you are applying for. In Singapore, in order to borrow up to six times your monthly wage with an unsecured personal loan, you will need to have a total income that’s above S$20,000 per year. However, if you want to borrow more than that, you could always back your loan application with collateral.
Is It Safe to Borrow from a Licensed Money Lender?
Yes. As long as the lender is officially licensed by the Ministry of Law, their business practices will legally need to follow strict regulations regarding maximum interest rates, advertising practices and repayment availability. Singapore is one of the best countries in the world when it comes to the protections available to borrowers, and the activity of private lenders is closely supervised by the Ministry of Law.
Choosing between emergency funds and personal loans depends on the urgency and size of an expense.
At Monetium Credit, our goal is to help you navigate life’s financial demands with ease and confidence. Our quick personal loan deals are crafted to offer both speed and flexibility, ensuring that you receive the support you need exactly when you need it.
