Apply for Payday Loan in Singapore

A payday loan provided by Monetium Credit licensed moneylending agency in Singapore is a short-term financial aid solution for those urgent situations in which your finances are affected by external events outside of your direct control.

What Is a Payday Loan in Singapore?

Do you need urgent cash, are you interested in a short-term loan, with no questions asked and you have no other solution available? In that case, a payday loan can provide you with the financial influx you require.

How Payday Loans Work?

Payday loans can be looked at as short-term, small-value loans that are typically provided by private lending agencies such as us, at Monetium Credit. Short-term loans can cover your most urgent financial necessities, up until your next payday, and they are typically unsecured and come with interest rates that are in line with the maximum APR laid out in the Moneylenders Act.

To obtain payday loans, you simply need to apply on our dedicated online platform, submit the basic paperwork required, and then sign the contract of the loan. Once you sign, the money will be disbursed into your account on the spot.

Why People Use Payday Loans?

Because payday loans are fast and convenient, they are a great solution for obtaining extra cash during periods in which you are stripped of luck, and while not ideal as a long-term investment solution, in the short term, a payday loan can provide you with the breathing room required in order to continue your daily activities. Payday loans can cover unwanted, urgent expenses; they are a solution for those people who can’t qualify for the lending solutions provided by conventional banks, and they are a way to handle temporary cash flow issues.

Payday Loan Regulations in Singapore

Maximum Interest Rate Allowed by Law

In Singapore, per the framework supervised by the Ministry of Law and via the Moneylenders Act of 2008, the maximum payday loan interest rates applicable to both moneylenders providing loans, and those offered by conventional banks, are capped at 4% per month or 48% per year. This cap applies regardless of your monthly income, and perhaps most importantly, the interest is only charged on the outstanding principal.

Administrative Fees and Late Fees

Per the same framework that limits the maximum APR for the financial packages commercialised in Singapore, lenders in our country are only permitted to charge a one-time administrative fee for the provided loan, which cannot exceed 10% of the principal. There might be additional late interest, but this interest must still follow the 4% cap. Likewise, if you miss a payment, the lender can only apply a late fee penalty of $60.

Protection For Borrowers

All private lenders currently operating in Singapore must follow the total caps on administrative and interest fees imposed by the Ministry of Law, and obtain an official lending license. Currently, our country is home to no less than 153 such agencies, including us, at Monetium Credit. Likewise, licensed moneylenders are required by law to be transparent with the dispositions of the loan, and they are not allowed to utilise unethical debt collection practices.

Who Is Eligible?

Income and Employment Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

  • Age above 21 years old
  • Singapore citizens and permanent residents
  • Meet the minimum annual income threshold imposed by the lender

  • In most cases, this threshold is $20,000, as this is the minimum sum required in order to be eligible, legally, for borrowing a maximum of six times your monthly wage.

To be eligible for obtaining a payday loan you will need to present:

✓ proof of income

✓ copies of your NRIC

✓ your work contract.

Foreigners working in Singapore are also eligible to apply for a payday loan. They need to:

✓ hold a valid work pass,

✓ show proof of employment in Singapore

The thresholds applicable to the sums they can borrow will also be a bit different in their case. For example, as an SG national, there is technically no set-in-stone minimum income requirement in order to borrow up to $3,000. At least from a legal standpoint. For foreigners, however, this sum is lowered from $3,000 to only $500.

How Much Can You Borrow from Licensed Moneylenders?

In Singapore, per the framework supervised by the Ministry of Law, the maximum sum you are allowed to borrow with unsecured loans will depend on your total annual income. Are you a PR, a citizen, or our country? If so, if you earn less than $10,000, you are legally allowed to borrow just a maximum of $3,000.

Do you, however, earn more than $20,000 per year? Then, you can borrow six times your monthly income. Moreover, if you are a foreigner with an annual wage between $10,000 and $20,000, you can borrow up to $3,000. Do you earn less than $10,000? In that case, you will only be permitted to borrow up to $500. That’s in theory, however. In practice, pretty much all lenders will require you to have an annual wage of at least $20,000, foreigner or not.

Payday Loan Vs Personal Loan: What’s the Difference?

A payday loan is a type of financial aid that’s intended to be repaid with your next paycheck. Payday loans are a great solution for covering the costs of emergency bills, car repairs, or medical expenses. But they are not a long-term solution. In fact, even the best payday loan Singapore will only be realistically useful for covering urgent cash needs. Personal loans, on the other hand, are characterised by a longer repayment period and have lower interest rates.

When Should You Consider a Payday Loan?

When obtained from licensed moneylenders, payday loans can cover those unavoidable costs that most of us have to deal with from time to time.

Unexpected Expenses

The truth is that most Singaporeans are one car breakdown or unexpected utility bill away from experiencing a setback in their finances. Payday loans can also be a solution to pay off the bills associated with medical emergencies or urgent travels. They can provide you with the temporary financial resources needed to at least partially offset the impact of unexpected expenses.

Cash Flow Issues

Let’s say, for example, that you’ve spent most of your monthly wage on an investment opportunity that might pay off big time in the future. Currently, you are short on cash and still need to cover part of your daily expenses. Payday loans can act as a financial bridge and give you the helping hand you need in this temporary situation you’re facing.
